Two lost Doctor Who stories from the 1960s are being revived in animated form. Original tapes of 1967’s The Evil of the Daleks and The Abominable Snowmen, starring Patrick Troughton as the second Time Lord, were wiped by the BBC.

No copies have been found so the BBC commissioned animation teams to complete the stories using soundtrack recordings and photos.

Only one episode of each story is known to exist, with episode two of The Evil of the Daleks being found at a car boot sale in 1987.

Between 1967 and 1978 the BBC routinely deleted programmes to create more archive space. As a result, 97 of the first 253 episodes of Doctor Who went missing.
