Two hundred take part in illegal woodland rave on nature reserve amid lockdown

Roughly 200 people took part in a massive overnight rave on a protected nature reserve despite lockdown. Furious locals reported loud music and big crowds near Kirkstall, Leeds, yesterday.

The rave took place on Kirkstall Valley Nature Reserve, a protected area of natural beauty which is used as a nesting ground for several species of birds.

A community group said youths showed no respect for the wildlife - never mind the lockdown rules. Police and fire crews were alerted and when they arrived officers found people wading through the River Aire to get across the water and try and access the nature reserve.
