Firefighters who rushed to a blaze at a Chinese restaurant which sent smoke billowing over the city centre discovered another fire in the same block, it has been revealed.
A fire in the kitchen of Lameizi restaurant on Chester Street, off Oxford Road, caused concern in the city after it sent black smoke out of the extraction system into the city centre sky, however, another fire threatened the building just before.
Pictures shared on social media showed plumes of thick black smoke rising from the top of the Quadrangle building above the restaurant.
The building is home to a number of apartments and restaurants. The MEN understood this was the only incident the fire service attended at that building.
