Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted rape after a woman was followed into her city centre apartment. Detectives have been investigating after receiving a report about a sexual assault, in an apartment block off Granby Row, at around 10am on Friday (June 24).
Officers were told that the woman had been 'tailgated' into her apartment block, on Granby Row, by a man. He is then believed to have pushed through her apartment door before sexually assaulting her.
Today (Sunday), Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that a 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, on suspicion of attempted rape.
He is currently in police custody for questioning. READ MORE: Man found dead as emergency services scramble to block of flats In a statement issued on Friday, Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, moved to reassure members of the community following the incident.
