Two cars torched in Scots village firebomb attack as cops hunt blaze thugs

Cops are hunting blaze thugs after two cars were torched in a Scots village last night. The motors were left as charred wrecks after the firebomb attack at Glendevon Park in Winchburgh, West Lothian, at 11pm on Monday, December 19.Firefighters were scrambled to the scene to extinguish the flames engulfing a Vauxhall Corsa and a Skoda Karoq.

It is believed the Corsa was targeted, with its windows also smashed in, while the fire then spread to the nearby Skoda.Shocking images show the extent of the smouldering aftermath, which left both motors as charred shells.

The pictures show both engine areas melted with the paint burnt off.Nobody was injured during the incident. A source told the Record: "One of the cars was deliberately set alight and it caused the other car next to it to go up in flames."Police Scotland have now launched a probe into the blaze, which they are treating as wilful.

Investigating officers are hunting a suspect described as 5ft8in tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing - and they have urged anyone in the area to get in touch.Detective Sergeant Keith Sinclair of Livingston Police Station said: “Luckily no-one was injured as a result of this incident, however the consequences of setting this fire could have been much more serious. "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Glendevon Park around 11pm on Monday evening who witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone who has information regarding this crime to contact officers through 101 with reference 3784 of December 19.”Meanwhile, in a separate firebomb attack on the same day, just seven miles away in Livingston, another police probe was launched after a BMW 1 series car was targeted.
