Holidaymakers who are jetting off to Spain this summer have been warned that there is a new ban in place covering a few beaches in one of the country's most popular resort for UK holidaymakers.
Recently, local areas in Spain have taken matters into their own hands to crack down on anti-social tourism, with some places banning swimwear being worn on the streets and others limiting how many alcoholic drinks can be bought per day at all-inclusive resorts.
And now, two of the most popular beaches in Benidorm have taken the step to officially ban tobacco smoking - with plans in place to create more non-smoking spaces within the area.
According to Spanish news site The Olive Press, Levante and Poniente are now strictly smoke-free. This became the case after an agreement was signed between the city council and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
