Two-thirds of Brits are struggling to afford holidays abroad this year, according to new research. Instead many are turning towards staycations in an effort to save money.
A study by Transpennine Express found that a quarter of people in the UK decided against a foreign holiday due to increased costs.
More than a third (35per cent) of those surveyed by TPE said the price of flights to popular destinations have become too expensive and one in five (20per cent) said it’s the first time they have struggled to afford a holiday overseas.
With expensive flights and accommodation costs putting holidaymakers off going abroad, many are choosing a staycation in the UK instead.
