Tulsa shooting: Four known dead in 'catastrophic scene' at US medical building

Four are people are known to have died in a fatal shooting incident in the US city of Tulsa. It was unclear what prompted the deadly assault however, at this stage it is that that an unidentified gunman fired both a handgun and a rifle during the attack at a medical building.

The alarm was raised in the city on Wednesday and police have gone on-record to describe the scene as “catastrophic. The tragic news comes just a week after 21 people were killed in a separate shooting in the US state of Texas.

Tulsa Police Department deputy chief Eric Dalgleish confirmed the number of dead and said the gunman also was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “Officers are currently going through every room in the building checking for additional threats,” police said in a Facebook post just before 6pm local time. Police captain Richard Meulenberg also said multiple people were wounded and that the medical complex was a “catastrophic scene”.
