deadline.comAfter 15 years, Disney is finally ready to unleash The Grid with a long-awaited Tron threequel. During CinemaCon on Saturday, Tron: Ares debuted the poster and first trailer for the upcoming installment, which premieres Oct.
10 in U.S. theaters, following the seminal Disney sci-fi classic Tron (1982) and Tron: Legacy (2010). The followup stars Jared Leto as a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with AI beings.
In the trailer, two Programs on Light Cycles ride through the streets of a real-world metropolis, leaving light trails that slice through a police car in their pursuit.
The world of the video game appears to be colliding with our own in the Joachim Rønning-helmed thrill ride.
