Tributes paid to Olympia Dukakis, star of Moonstruck and Steel Magnolias, who has died aged 89

Her agent said the US star died on Saturday in New York. The Oscar winner was best known for her roles in films including the 1987 comedy Moonstruck, the 1989 drama Steel Magnolias, and as Anna Madrigal in the 2019 TV series Tales of the City.
Cher, who starred alongside Ms Dukakis in Moonstruck, led the tributes. She paid tribute on social media to the “amazing” actress, adding, “She Played My Mom In Moonstruck, & Even Though Her Part was That Of a Suffering Wife, We [laughed] ALL The Time.
