Christopher Plummer has died at the age of 91, his family has confirmed. He died peacefully at his home in Connecticut with his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side.
The couple wed in Montreal back in October 1970. The star has been a regular on the silver screen since the 1950s and although he is known by many for his role in The Sound of Music, people may recognise him most recently for his part in the compelling whodunnit Knives Out.
Other mega movies he starred in included All the Money in the World and The Man Who Would Be King. Christopher Plummer was born in Toronto in 1929 and achieved his first leading role back in 1956 when he played Hal in Henry V during Ontario’s Stratford Festival.
