When he got word that 79-year-old Gloria White needed help rebuilding her home of 56 years, he and his 87 & Running foundation came to the rescue.
According to KSHB on Friday, the longtime KC resident called local project Rebuilding Together Kansas City after a sewage leak in her basement — and sadly, after helpers arrived, they realized her home was in much worse condition than they originally thought. Gloria — who was an athlete herself btw, the first ever Black cheerleader at her Topeka middle school — needed a lot of work done.
Her home required sewer system repairs, new doors, new basement steps, a new hot water heater, a new kitchen sink, safety bars in the bathroom, fire safety equipment, and MUCH MORE.
