A vulnerable dad in the midst of a mental health crisis was mocked by police hours before he took his own life. Scott Boughton spiralled following the death of his partner to suicide.
He made two failed attempts on his own life in the weeks that followed, before further incidents of self-harm. The 34-year-old was taken to his mum's home in Withington in the early hours of June 5, 2021, following an altercation at his dad's house in Moston.
Within an hour, Scott began self-harming with a knife. In a frantic 999 call Scott's mum, Anna Luczo, was repeatedly heard urging her son to let go of a knife while telling the call handler he 'needs to go to hospital'.
Greater Manchester Police descended on Anna's home in a 'grade-one emergency' response, following reports of Scott carrying a knife.
