Couples have made a Valentine's Day pilgrimage to a beauty spot just an hour from Manchester to find messages of love that have been rescued.
The lovebirds who visited the Thornbridge Estate in Bakewell on Valentine's Day were among thousands who had previously hung up to 50,000 love locks - as they have come to be known because they bear messages about loved ones - on the Weir Bridge in the picturesque market town.
It looked like there would be no fairytale ending when, last year, everyone was given six weeks' notice to remove the locks and a mad scramble to find them an alternative home began.
Derbyshire County Council said they needed to be removed to allow for bridge repairs. Salvation came for campaigner Richard Young when Emma Harrison, who owns Thornbridge Hall, stepped forward and agreed to give the locks a new home if they could be removed and transported up the road a couple of miles to Ashford-in-the-Water.
