Trapped driver cut free from car following crash in Bury

A trapped driver was cut free from his car following a crash in Bury. Emergency services were called to the two-car smash in Walmersley Road at about 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters rescued an elderly man from inside one of the vehicles. Two adults and two children were checked over by paramedics before all five people were taken to hospital.

Following the crash, police shut Walmersley Road in both directions between Palatine Drive and Springside Road. The road has since been reopened.
