A driver was slapped with a £400 fine after video camera footage recorded them driving narrowly close to a group of cyclists in Sheffield and 'swerving' over the central white road markings.

The shocking incident was captured in August last year, and showed the silver car pass the bikers closely at speed. Police confirmed the driver landed a £417 fine after driving 'too closely' to the cyclists at 'excessive speed' and was also slapped with five penalty points.

They added that the driver had chosen to accelerate and endanger the bikers.
