Trains are being delayed and cancelled this evening with a broken down train leaving one of the region's busiest rail lines blocked.
A train has failed between Salford Crescent and Bolton. It means trains between Bolton and both Oxford Road and Victoria are currently being cancelled or heavily delayed. READ MORE: Northern issues ANOTHER Sunday travel warning over cancelled trains The incident, which began around 6:30pm, is affecting the following Northern services TransPennine Express (TPE) services between Bolton and Manchester Airport are also affected.
Services are currently being delayed by up to 35 minutes, diverted or cancelled. Northern said that their maintenance staff are "working to rectify the fault." TPE say rail replacement buses have been requested to run from Preston towards Bolton and from Bolton towards Manchester Oxford Road.
