Assistant Coroner Kate Bisset described the deaths of Jessica and Elsie as "absolutely tragic". She asked the family, who attended the hearing, how they were doing to which they replied: "As well as we can. "Today's review heard that the hospital trust was currently carrying out an investigation into the antenatal care Jessica received.
The investigation is expected to be completed by early July. Evidence relating to Jessica's employment will also be given during the final inquest.
The midwife who treated Jessica has provided a statement. The coroner referenced the possibility of appointing an expert but this will not be decided until all the evidence has been collated ahead of the final hearing.
