A mountain biker has died after a 90ft fall in the Peak District. A huge rescue operation involving two helicopters, mountain rescue teams, police and firefighters was launched after the male cyclist fell down a hillside during a bike ride with friends.
Tragically the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services were called to the beauty spot at Derwent Moors at about 6pm on Tuesday.
Both Edale and Woodhead mountain rescue teams responded to the incident at Foulstone Delph off Mortimer Road in the north-easterly part of the Peak District.
