Trafford Park chemical leak: Statements from GMP, NWAS and fire service as major incident declared

A major incident has been declared following a suspected chemical leak in Trafford Park this morning - with residents living nearby urged to keep their windows and shut.

A large number of ambulance, fire and police vehicles are on the scene on Tenax Road with a huge 300m cordon in place and a stretch of the road closed off.

The Manchester Evening News understands the suspected chemical leak is in the Lanxess building, with the chemical believed to be phosphorus oxychloride.

A major incident has been declared by both Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and by the North West Ambulance Service, a spokesperson for GMP confirmed.
