Tractor run tribute to Arnprior favourite raises £5k

The organiser of the region’s first ‘tractor run’ says the response has been “unbelievable” after it raised more than £5,000 for charity.The Trossachs Tractor Run was organised by Kippen’s Robert Wilson in memory of former Arnprior blacksmith Bobby Gunn who died suddenly while at work in the village’s Smiddy in 2017.More than 40 tractors, ranging from classic motors all the way to modern versions, took part in the special route around rural Stirling, with villagers coming out in force to witness the special sight.The proceeds from the event will raise money for the Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland charity - with donations from drivers, well-wishers and the wider Stirling community taking the total raised to a whopping £5,300.Following the event, Robert said: “We had no hitches with traffic at all and everything ran like clockwork thanks to the help from all my pals from the Scottish Land Rover Owners Club.“The thanks begin with George and Mags McLay, Gordon Berry, Kieron Freyne and Aaron Ferguson who helped with convoy vehicles.“A big thanks to John MacAdam for taking pictures throughout the day and the hardworking Catriona Willison racing ahead to each village to put out the collection buckets which she said was quite overwhelming to see how much money that was donated.“My good pal David Wilson at the back with his tractor and low loader with the sign to say what we were doing and recovery trailer, which wasn’t needed as all 45 tractors made it home without a hitch.“A huge thanks to my wife Susan who helped keep me right with prizes and food in the day.“Finally, to Stirling MKM for donating two £50 vouchers to spend in MKM for the drivers’ prize draw.There were also prizes announced by Bobby’s daughter Eileen, with Fred
