A super-rich Tory MP is raking in cash from a Caribbean sugar plantation where thousands died during the colonial slave trade.
The 621-acre estate in the name of Richard Drax – a lord of the manor worth an estimated £150million – has been dubbed a “killing field” for its shameful past.
He now faces demands to pay reparations for the actions of his ancestors. Today’s workers face a different plight, allegedly earning as little as £24 a day, half the average wage in Barbados.
The Sunday Mirror has uncovered proof that Harrow-educated and Sandhurst-trained Mr Drax has put the business in his name – but it is yet to be declared in the MPs’ register of interests.
