A 'torrential' thunderstorm suddenly hit Greater Manchester on Sunday afternoon (September 1) amid a yellow flood alert and weather warning.
The heavens opened with huge rumbles of thunder heard over parts of the region, with streets in the city centre also seen becoming partially flooded.
The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm alert for the north west and other parts of England, running until 11.59pm on Monday (September 2). There is also the chance of power cuts and homes and businesses becoming flooded or damaged due to flood water or strong winds.
