Tony Fitzpatrick believes St Mirren talent Dylan Reid’s decision to turn Celtic down will give him the best chance of reaching the very top of the game.
The Buddies midfielder has been constantly scouted since breaking into the first team from the club’s academy last season, with Benfica, Rangers and the Hoops all admirers of the talented 17-year-old.
Celtic were the first to put money on the table, with the Saints agreeing to let the Scotland Under-17 captain speak to Ange Postecoglou about a potential switch to Glasgow.
After hearing of the Hoops plans to put him in their B team, that will compete in the Lowland League this season, Reid decided his prospects were better served staying in Paisley and fighting for a first-team spot and Premiership minutes.
