Tony Blackburn forced to miss Radio 2 show amid health issue

Tony Blackburn has been forced to take time off from his BBC Radio 2 show and postpone his upcoming Sounds of the '60s shows due to a health issues.

The iconic radio host, 80, was absent from his show on Saturday morning with fellow host Johnnie Walker filling in for him. Tony later took to Twitter to announce he will be absent from Radio 2 over the coming days after his doctor ordered him to take some time off to "recover properly" from a recent chest infection.

He also revealed his upcoming Sounds of the 60s shows in Redhill and Swindon, set to take place next week, have been postponed.

The star wrote on Twitter: "Hello folks. Just to let you all know, I've had a little recurrence of the chest infection I had a few weeks ago. "My Dr has told me off for not taking some time to recover properly so I am having a break from the radio this weekend and, sadly, I have had to postpone the Sounds of the 60s shows at Swindon and Redhill next week too. "New dates are already in the diary though and I really do hope to be back with you soon." Tony's followers flocked to wish him a speedy recovery on social media, with one person writing: "Your health comes first.Took me ages to finally realise this and take time off.
