Tomoki Iwata thought Celtic fans were jeering HIM when he was subbed off against Motherwell at Fir Park last Sunday.The travelling support were actually having a go at gaffer Brendan Rodgers for taking the Japanese midfielder off.
The Hoops scored twice late on to secure victory over the Steelmen and Iwata now knows the fans were actually pleased with his performance.
The 26-year-old had struggled for minutes under Rodgers due to a niggling ankle injury. But his return has coincided with an upturn in results – and he’s set to be a key man today when Celtic travel to face Hearts.Skipper Callum McGregor is a doubt for the trip to Gorgie so Iwata could have an even more prominent role.
The former Yokohama Marinos star said: “I’m starting to feature in games now and I’m happy about that. Before that I was frustrated at not being involved because of injuries and different situations.
