Rangers have suffered a fresh injury blow with Tom Lawrence ruled out until March, according to a report. The Welshman hasn’t played since a win over Ross County at the end of August and was ruled out of making the Wales squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Ibrox club had been hopeful that Lawrence would make his Rangers return after the tournament. But now the Glasgow Times report that he will visit a specialist in London to get to the bottom on an Achilles issue. That means he won’t be back until the spring.
Given Gers are already nine points behind rivals Celtic in the Premiership title race, any title run-in may be a formality unless the managerless Govan outfit can make up some ground on Ange Postecoglou’s men.
Gio van Bronckhorst's failure to keep pace cost him his job, and Lawrence will have a new boss to impress by the time he’s fitr again. The former Derby County man made an impressive start to life in Glasgow, netting an important goal against PSV as Rangers beat the Dutch over two legs to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
