Tom Hanks' son says he grew up without a ‘strong male role model' amid 'toxic' fame issues

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has opened up about his family life.The actor, 31, shared how “privileged” he has been to grow up with the Hollywood actors but admitted it also came with some “toxic” elements.Chet, who has acted previously in shows like Empire and Shameless, shared the insight in a YouTube video.He opened up in the clip called “The Truth About Growing Up As A Hanks” on February 14.Chet said while he was very “blessed” with his experiences growing up, this was a “double-edged sword”.The actor explained: "There's a lot of advantages but sometimes it can be pretty weird."I got to do a lot of cool s**t that a lot of people don't get the opportunity to do.“I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes and I'm very blessed for that.“I wouldn't change my situation."He also shared how he was able to attend private school as well, commenting on his “privilege”Although, he admitted there was also a great deal of “toxic” issues associated with being famous as well.Chet added: "My experience was even more complicated because on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn't even famous."I was just the son of somebody famous so I hadn't even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition and that created a lot of contempt."The actor also said he didn’t feel he had a “strong male role model” in his life growing up.Speaking about his perception as “arrogant, entitled and spoiled” he opened up about this.Chet said he “didn’t have a strong male role model to tell me, ‘Bro, f*** these people, they are just jealous of you’.”In his candid video, he also promised he would share the “truth” about Hollywood on his channel.Chet is the third child of Tom and his firstborn with his wife Rita.He followed his father.
