Chet Hanks has finally revealed the origin of his controversial Jamaican accent, and it’s all down to an ex-girlfriend. The Your Honor actor, whose parents are Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has been accused of cultural appropriation ever since he debuted his Jamaican accent at the Golden Globes in 2020.
Since then, Chet has defended his use of Patois on several occasions and even claimed to have the support of native Jamaicans.
In a new interview, the actor and aspiring rapper has hit back at the criticism once again, while revealing what prompted him to start speaking in a Jamaican accent in the first place. ‘I was hooking up with this chick, one day she was on the phone with her family in Jamaica and she was really in the middle of a heated.
