Cantwell, who recently revealed threats on social media, wrote: “It hurts, we will respond.” His message comes as Michael Beale’s men look to bounce back from the disappointment of crashing out of UEFA’s top competition by beating Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the season at Ibrox on Sunday.
Cantwell has been a key player for the Light Blues since his arrival in January and Beale will be hoping he can step up against their rivals.
The 25-year-old came under online fire when he was accused of mocking Celtic on the day they crashed out of the Viaplay Cup to Kilmarnock.
