Tiny frog embarks on 5,000 mile journey from Africa to north west - in bunch of bananas

A tiny frog has been found in a bunch of bananas at a primary school - having journeyed 5,000 miles to get to the north west.

Teachers at Heswall Primary School in Wirral, discovered the pint-sized amphibian on Tuesday (February 15) when making up health snacks for children.

It's thought the frog has travelled all the way from Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in west Africa, the Liverpool Echo reports. Deputy headteacher Nicky Bolton told the ECHO: "No one expected to find a tiny green stowaway in the class bananas when they opened them yesterday morning! "A tiny green frog was hiding inside the packaging, which had travelled all the way from the Ivory Coast in Africa. "After resting quietly for the morning in a damp container, he was collected by RSPCA officer, Anthony Joynes, who has already found him a new home with a specialist keeper .
