A nine-week-old baby was rushed into major surgery after turning 'head-to-toe bright blue' on the sofa. Kario-Blu was born with a heart condition which would cause him to go through cyanotic spells, his mum Keely Elliot said.

During these spells, parts of Kario-Blu’s body would turn a different colour as he would struggle to breathe. Keely, 23, was told her son would need a heart operation when he was around nine-months-old.

Keely, a mum of two, was made aware of the spells but said she didn’t realise how frequent and severe they would eventually become.

She said: “When I would be bathing him and bringing him out of the water, his tongue, fingernails and toenails would be blue. "He always had a cough but it was like a choking one and he would breathe father than a child with no disability would be doing.” Concerns around Kario-Blu’s health started to arise at Keely’s 21-week pregnancy scan as the doctors 'couldn’t find what they needed to find'.
