TikTok Update: Biden White House Won't Enforce Ban, Will Leave It to Trump Administration

It’s looking more likely that you won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to TikTok this weekend as Joe Biden‘s administration does not plan on enforcing a ban.

A law was passed last year requiring that TikTok’s parent company ByteDance sell the app to a non-Chinese company by January 19, 2025, or it would face a nationwide ban.

It was believed that people who had already downloaded TikTok would still be able to access it after the ban went into effect.

However, a recent report suggested that the app might even be totally taken offline and rendered unusable. Instead of banning the app on Sunday, the Biden administration has other plans. Keep reading to find out more… “Given the timing of when it goes into effect over a holiday weekend a day before inauguration, it will be up to the next administration to implement,” a White House official told NBC News. Trump has vowed to save TikTok, so if the decision is left up to his administration, things might be looking good for the app.
