Scots heading out this weekend should dress for the weather as thunderstorms are now on the way.Two separate yellow weather warnings for heavy showers and thunderstorms are in place on today (August 25) until Saturday morning.
The first begins at 12pm today until this evening and will impact Inverness, while the second covering Edinburgh will begin at 3pm today and end at 9am on Saturday.The Met Office reports that some places could see up to 40mm of rainfall in just "a few hours" and further warned of lightening strikes as an "additional hazard".
The forecaster warns is also a "good chance" of impacted road conditions, as well as a possible loss of power and public transport delays.Buildings could face possible damage from lightening strikes, while road spray and standing water may lead to longer journey times.
Scots are being urged to plan ahead before travelling, as delays to train services are also likely.Meanwhile, temporary outages could impact WiFi and other electric services.
