A young dad was stabbed to death over his Gucci backpack in an apparent unprovoked attacked by a masked gang, a court was told.

Ryan O'Connor was killed during the robbery on June 10 last year in Newport. Jurors heard how passersby tried to help the 26-year-old who died just minutes later, with his attackers heard laughing and mocking him as they fled the scene in a Ford Fiesta.

The stolen vehicle was then spotted 45 minutes away in Cardiff, which was then pursued by police in a high-speed chase, Wales Online reports.
