Thugs leave man needing surgery after brutal attack in Scots seaside town

A man required surgery after he was attacked by two thugs in a South Ayrshire seaside town on Saturday night.Police say the incident took place around 10.30pm on Prestwick's Main Street at its junction with Kyle Street.The victim was with a group of friends when there was an altercation with the duo who were unknown to the others.Emergency services responded and the 20-year-old was taken to Ayr Hospital where he later underwent surgery as a result of his injuries.It is being treated as an 'isolated incident' although officers are investigating whether this was a targeted attack and are looking to trace the two suspects.The first man is described as aged between 30 and 40, around 6ft 1in tall, of stocky build and bald.
