An off-duty lifeguard saved a three-year-old girl from drowning after she tripped and fell into a river.Susan McDonald, who is duty manager at East Manchester Leisure Centre, saved little Hayaa's life after rescuing her from the River Lune in Lancashire.The young girl had been at the popular beauty spot, The Crook O'Lune with her family during a day trip on August 7.Susan was sunbathing nearby when Hayaa tripped and fell into the water.
She jumped straight into the river to rescue the young girl.The three-year-old was face down in the water and unconscious, and Susan had to perform life-saving rescue breaths in the water before bringing her to safety.A member of the girl's family, who was a doctor, performed two cycles of CPR while Susan's.
