Three injured in serious crash as emergency services shut road for hours

Three people were injured in a serious car crash in Tameside last night, police have confirmed. Emergency services, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics, rushed to the scene of the crash on Mossley Road in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 10.30pm.

Two cars were involved, police said. Two women and a man were injured. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said 'no life-threatening injuries were reported after hospital treatment'. It was closed in both directions until at least 6.30am this morning as accident investigation work was carried out. Pictures taken last night showed a large emergency services presence at the scene.

The two cars appeared to have been left badly damaged in the smash. One appeared to have had its roof cut off by firefighters.
