Thomas Tuchel Bayern Munich move escalated over major fear over Tottenham and others
dailyrecord.co.ukBayern Munich's decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann and appoint Thomas Tuchel as manager was reportedly done swiftly as a result of Real Madrid and Tottenham's interest in the German.Nagelsmann, who joined Bayern at the beginning of last season from RB Leipzig in a world-record fee for a manager at £25million, won the Bundesliga at a canter last season.
Despite not winning the Champions League and DFB-Pokal, Nagelsmann showed signs that he could make Bayern a super-team given time.But the Bavarian outfit have hardly showed signs of improvement this year despite spending money on the likes of Sadio Mane, Matthijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch and Joao Cancelo.
The perennial winners did beat Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League, but they currently sit second to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga - which isn't good enough for Bayern chiefs.And with a Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City to contend, they have turned for Tuchel - who was sacked by Chelsea in September in an equally surprising move by the Blues.However, according to Fabrizio Romano, it has since come to light that Nagelsmann's sacking from Bayern is because Tuchel has picked up interest from Real Madrid and Tottenham amid their own managerial crises.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte famously embarked on a sensational rant after last Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton left him criticising his playing staff for their lack of effort.
