Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's colleague from This Morning has suggested that their unexpected departure from the show was a catalyst for their marital split. The television duo, both aged 64, shocked their fans this weekend by announcing they are divorcing after 14 years of marriage.

They have been a couple for 27 years and have a 22-year-old son named Jack together.Ruth and Eamonn became familiar faces to viewers as they presented This Morning on Fridays and during school holidays. However, in a sudden move in 2021, they were dropped from the morning programme and replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

A former co-star now believes that being axed was "the beginning of the end for their marriage". Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings, who frequently appeared on This Morning, confessed she "never noticed any cause for concern" regarding their relationship, reports the Mirror.

Jo observed Eamonn and Ruth presenting together comfortably, and despite their occasional "bickering" and "differences of opinion", she noted it was always "done with warmth, ease, and affection".
