Thinking I was going into labour at 36 weeks made me realise how unprepared I am

Failure to prepare is preparing to give birth at 36 weeks with unshaven legs and a hungry cat at home.That was the reality I thought I was facing this week after a bit of a horror trip to the hospital.

Since being diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 28 weeks, I've been having regular growth scans to check that baby boy is looking a healthy weight.

So far so good, until this week. At my 36 week scan, my partner and I were told his growth had slowed down. I'd also lost weight, which is likely due to the highly restrictive diet the diabetes has forced me on.This led to six excruciating hours spent in hospital, mostly spent sat in waiting rooms not knowing what the hell was going on.
