Thee MVPs frontman Charlie Wyatt recalls the moment his band shared a festival stage with rock royalty when reflecting on how far the band has progressed. “Some of the crazier stuff is like when we played with Television in Texas”, says an effervescent Wyatt when we call him during lockdown. “There were a bunch of other bands on that day, but we went on before them.
The day festival was so low budget that they didn’t sort them out any separate hospitality tent or dressing room or anything.
I ended up chatting to Tom Verlaine and I didn’t realise it was him for ages. “My mate was like ‘what were you doing chatting to Television for ages?’.
