Trier spoke with Deadline’s Matt Grobar at The Contenders Film: Los Angeles event Sunday.“We’re pretending it’s a small story about a young woman trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life, but actually, we’re making it more epic in the structure,” Trier said.Renate Reinsve plays Julie and won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance.
