Actor Michael K. Williams, best known for his role in the hit American TV show The Wire, has been found dead in his apartment in Brooklyn, New York.

According to reports by the New York Post, the 54-year-old was found by his nephew unconscious on the living room floor of the apartment.

Michael’s nephew had gone to check in on his uncle after he hadn’t heard from him in several days, and following his discovery, a doorman called 911 claiming the actor was ‘unresponsive’ and ‘felt cold’.

Medics rushed to the scene but the actor was declared dead at 2:12pm, and according to the New York Post, heroin was said to be found on the star’s kitchen table, and drug paraphernalia was allegedly discovered elsewhere in the apartment.
