Rock legend Roger Daltrey has pleaded with the Government not to abandon vital charities left  reeling by the pandemic. The Who frontman – an honorary patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust – leapt into action to try to make sure the kids who need help most are all right.

The star told us: “I got in touch with the Government and said, ‘look, we need between £4million and £7million so we can get through the year and not have to lay off any of our front-line staff’. “Most of the ways to raise money are events based and, of course, that’s all stopped.
