The Weeknd Ends Grammys Boycott, Gives Surprise 2025 Performance

The Weeknd and the Grammys are back together again. The 34-year-old superstar made a surprise return to the stage of the awards ceremony after years of boycotting on Sunday (February 2) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

He originally told The New York Times in 2021 that he would no longer allow his label to submit him to the awards show “because of the secret committees.” Harvey Mason Jr. addressed changes the Recording Academy has made in recent years in his introduction, before announcing The Weeknd to the stage, who performed “Timeless” and “Cry for Me” from his new studio album Hurry Up Tomorrow.
