By the end of the Season 3 finale, we know one key thing about the baby: who he was. It turned out that the cooing infant was Elliot (played by Evan Williams as an adult) as a baby.

He was left by the pond by his time-traveling mother, who jumped into the frigid waters with someone who must be a male Landry, but whose face we never see.
