The Walking Dead’s Melissa McBride has exited the forthcoming spinoff show that was set to focus on Norman Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon and Melissa’s Carol Peletier.
Earlier this month, The Walking Dead aired its last ever episode, in the second of the three arcs that make up the series’ 11 final seasons.
One more eight-episode arc is still to come, following the conclusion of Fear of the Walking Dead’s currently airing season 7.
Of Melissa’s exit, a network spokesperson said: ‘Melissa McBride has given life to one of the most interesting, real, human and popular characters in The Walking Dead Universe.‘Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spinoff focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year.’ Speaking to TV Line, the spokesperson revealed that the reason Melissa will not feature is due to ‘relocation’ issues.
