McFly’s Danny Jones and bandmate Tom Fletcher are about to make their debut on The Voice UK.The duo will make history as the first coaches in the UK to share a chair when the series returns on Saturday (31 August). They will join Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and LeAnn Rimes to try and find the next British singing superstar.
Danny has worked with lots of singing legends before during his career, but there’s one legend that he didn’t get on the right foot with - Rod Stewart. The Scottish rocker, a family friend of Danny’s, once invited the lads on to his private jet after a concert for Childline But after Rod naughtily defaced the boys’ passports they were forced to order new travel documents.
During an episode of Would I Lie To You earlier this year, Danny recounted the tale. He explained: “Rod said, ‘Do you want a lift?
I’ll give you a lift on my jet.’ Then he said, ‘I need your passports. So we get on the plane, give our passports to him and then fly to London.” Rod had drawn penises on the passports which didn’t cause concern when the lads arrived at border control in the UK.
