Villagers in Woodhouses, Oldham, are worried. They claim a 'horrific' road safety issue could be about to get 'much worse' - if plans for more than 40 new houses on Ashton Road are approved by Oldham Council.
The decision on the development in the Failsworth village was deferred by councillors at a tense planning meeting earlier this week (January 22) after pleas from the public gallery.
Developers Jones Homes plan to build 41 new homes and a new road layout on a plot of greenfield land behind the village church.
The plans, which will now be decided on in March, include six three-bedroom and 35 four-bedroom properties, with four of the homes to be ‘gifted’ to a social housing provider.
